The DSS provides student leadership opportunities through commissioner roles which oversees its respective student-led subcommittee to fulfill the needs of the study body. Below are descriptions of each commissioner’s responsibilities.

COLOUR GROUP GAMES
Mayhay Ho, 2T0
Student wellness is of high priority to the DSS. As Wellness Commissioner, your mission will be to support and foster student wellness within our Faculty. You will be the head the Wellness Committee, composed of interested student volunteers, and will be responsible for guiding the committee in the organization and running of events geared towards relaxation and stress reduction. Events and initiatives this year included yoga, meditation, craft therapy, puppy therapy, board game nights, and more! As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Student Life (Internal) as the need arises.
Athletics Commissioners (x2)

The Faculty of Dentistry is very athletic, requiring two Athletic Commissioners, with no
preference for gender, to help fulfill the responsibilities. The two of you will work together to promote and organize all our Dentistry intramural teams, represent Dentistry on university-level athletic committees, coordinate the Most Valuable Player Awards, and order and distribute intramural jerseys. You will also head a committee of class representatives and student volunteers, and head a subcommittee for the organization of the ODA Cup. As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Student Life (External) as the need arises. You are also encouraged to work with other branches of the DSS to bring new and exciting events to the student body!
Rebecca Philips, 1T8
As the Social Commissioner, you will be the head of the Social Committee, which will be composed of the Social Representatives from each class, as well as any additional members you see fit. The Social Committee will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and running major DSS social events. These events will be the DSS BBQ for the incoming first year class, the DSS Holiday Lunch in December, and the DSS Awards in April. Other events can include, but are not limited to, ski trip and an annual boat cruise. As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Student Life (External) as the need arises. Applicants should be organized, committed, and above all else, enthusiastic about bringing our colleagues together for fun activities!
Colour Group Games Commissioner
The Colour Group Games Commissioner takes the lead on the Colour Group Games, making sure that they run smoothly and effectively. You will not be alone in this task, as you make sure that each Colour Group in each year has a representative, and that all administrative roles for the Colour Group Games are filled. Together with the Colour Group Games Committee, you will devise, plan, promote, and oversee all the Colour Group Games events, track points, and organize the award for the Colour Group Games Champion. As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Student Life (Internal) as the need arises. One of the largest goals of the Colour Group Games is to bring the school together to improve collegiality and student morale, so you are encouraged to work with other branches of the DSS to reach this goal.
Responsible for heading the website committee. You will oversee the maintenance of the website, including hosting arrangements, website structure, aesthetics, and security issues, as well as overseeing moderation of forum content and activity. Further, you will work with student groups to update the website to serve student needs, with the goal of making the website a useful utility for student life at the Faculty of Dentistry. As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Communications, as the need arises.
Amalia Cong, 1T8
The primary goal of the Marketing Commissioner is to increase the visibility of the DSS in our Faculty community. You will be responsible for overseeing social media and print promotion, aiming to keep students informed and interested in DSS events, initiatives, and updates. You will also have the opportunity to work with and lead our class Hype Representatives towards this common goal. Any experience with poster, photography, or graphic design is an asset, but not required – creativity is encouraged! As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Communications, as the need arises.
As Finance Commissioner, you will work closely and act in a supportive capacity to the VP Finance. You will be responsible for assisting with a range of ongoing responsibilities, including: the development and promotion of budget proposal applications, the collection and organization of yearly funding requests submitted to the DSS, as well as the collection and delivery of reimbursements for items approved under such requests. You will also have roles in the promotion and coordination of our Faculty Loupes Nights (typically two “loupes night” events; one in the fall term and one in the winter term). As an integral member of the DSS, you must also be willing and able to help the Vice President Finance, as the need arises.
